Session Title: Start Early – Daily Mindfulness Practice is to Mental Health; What Daily Teeth Brushing is to Dental Health
Laura Bakosh, Ph.D. is a mindfulness teacher, researcher and co-founder of Inner Explorer, a mindfulness-based social emotional learning (MBSEL) program. She has practiced and studied mindfulness for more than 25 years. She began teaching children 11 years ago and quickly realized that it was difficult for children to commit to a daily practice at home, and it was difficult for many teachers to lead such practices in the classroom. This was the foundational insight that led to the development of an Inner Explorer audio-guided platform, to make it easy for teachers and students (and families) to practice together each day. Inner Explorer is one of the few CASEL approved mindfulness interventions because it has been shown to improve student behavior, academic performance and reduce stress. She believes that mindfulness is the most important education equity and social justice initiative of our time.
